Banco de Bilbao

In 1952, Miquel Farré undertook the mural decoration of the grand staircase of the Banco de Bilbao in Barcelona's Plaça de Catalunya. The curved surface, extending over three floors, required a composition adapted to the viewer's movement. Without resorting to conventional allegories, Farré depicted a broad panorama of modern production and wealth through vivid figures, large chromatic masses, and an intense contrast of colors.
